#Chapter 1
The landlocked region known as Nezdarand hald little importance for as a far back as the historians of Certz put ink to parchmant. It sat between the two dominat kingdoms of Regis and Durog and apart from serving as a buffer between them it was know to be a dumping ground of sorts. Regis was a strict theocracy for the last two hundred years and the Clergy had systematicaly purged their lands of all races other then humans. Even amongs that chosen race those who would not kneel at Cedras altar and pledge their living bodies and everlasting souls where stripped of all possesions and send out. The kindom of Durog had something of a renasance as of late. They wellcomed any skilled labores reguardless of race and their Monarchs had an elected Senat to check their power. As a result the kindom thrived socialy and technologicaly despite the high rate of corruption in their government officials.
Nezdarand stretched almost the entire width of the continent but was seldom longer then 30 miles from the banks of the slowly moviong and heavily overgrown Turos river that marked the Durog border to the rocky fills that piked over the lush vally that signified Regi's holdings. The land in between was full of marches and small forests. The few towns that clung to the patches of fertile lands seldom saw more then a hundred people and the only City had grown around the single iron mine in the Tara mountain range which marked the center of the region.
